Roger Shapley - Profile
Mark-making and scratching on surfaces has been a major part but intermittent part of my life since schooldays and I’ve been lucky enough to get more fully involved in it latterly.
Most of my work tends to concentrate on the figure in a variety of contexts and is under-pinned by life-drawing. There is often a human relationship or socio-politcal context. I frequently use and re-define imagery taken from the media.
Recently I’ve done more landscape and interior work looking mainly at the effect of light on space and surfaces.
